This website has some of the purest clothing I’ve seen for men (but I would wear this clothing too). Just one example is a 100% organic cotton twill blazer, unbleached and undid, with river shell buttons. Same jacket also available in blue, made with fermented natural indigo dye. Homegrown Cotton

Dharma Trading Company
This is one of my local California stores that has been around a long time—1969! They are basically a fiber art supply store, so there are a lot of things you may not be interested in, but I’m listing them here because fiber arts are about putting art on fabric and clothing, and they carry a good selection of natural fiber fabrics, clothing and other dyeables that can be used “undyed.” They have many types of cotton fabrics, including some organic and even 100% cotton for making sweat clothes, hemp and hemp blends, linen and linen blends, and many silk fabrics. Also extra wide natural fiber fabrics undyed for curtains or bedlinens. Clothing for babies, kids, women and men include such things as undyed cotton tank dress for only $16 and cotton sweat pants and sweat shirts for under $20. Clothing is not organic, but no dye and all sewn with cotton thread. Plus bags, wallets, totes. Yarns, lace, ribbons. Almost anything and everything. And they sell all kinds of dyes and markers (not all nontoxic) to make your own creations.

A very small selection of shirts for men “beyond made in the USA…We work exclusively with USDA organic cotton farms, American heritage mills, and local family owned factories. Our entire supply chain is in the USA….Ricketts Indigo grows organic indigo and dyes their textiles at their studio in Indiana…These tees are truly wearable art, dyed with traditional techniques and organic plants.” Also natural cotton shirts without dye.

A small collection of clothing for women and men made from 100% certified organic cotton n a GOTS certified factory in India. I love this clothing. Natural Clothing Company
Clothing for women and men made from 100% organic and natural cotton, linen, hemp, ramie, bamboo and other natural fibers or natural fiber blends. Each piece has been chosen by a husband-and-wife who are former natural food store owners, now living in a rural area near Seattle. “We want life without poisons for ourselves and you, the soil and animals. We think you want that too.”Read descriptions carefully as some are made from tencel (wood pulp) and garments are made in many different countries.

Purakai
A California beach-oriented website that sells simple shirts for women and men made from California-grown “ocean-friendly” organic cotton. They also sell sustainable surfboards and some items contain synthetics, but I like the fact that this California company is selling shirts made from 100% California grown organic cotton.
Cotton Mill
All cotton clothing without finishes for women and men. Just basic cotton clothing—shirts, dresses, jackets, sweats, jeans and pants—in lots of colors and many different types of cotton fabrics (all fabrics are listed and explained). Some organic cotton, plus sizes, all made in the USA or Canada. Nothing fancy here, just plain cotton clothing. And especially sweatshirts—“100% heavy-weight 18-ounce cotton sweatshirts…built to last a lifetime.”
HoBo Ties
A delightful collection of natural fiber bow ties, neckties, pocket squares, cummerbunds and suspenders for men and boys. “All of our products are created with carefully chosen materials. We source professional hardware to use on our products that are made right here in the USA. Our fabrics are almost always cotton I saw a natural linen tie and sometimes we make specialty silk bow ties.

Clothing for women (plus shirts for men) all made of linen, sizes XS-XXL sizes. Loose-fitting and tailored styles, casual and dressy. One thing they have that I can never find in stores is 100% linen unlined jackets. Lots of loose-fitting tops some with embroidered details. Lovely dresses. Plus sizes have their own flattering designs.

This is what I like. You go to their website and the first thing you see is “Super Soft ORGANIC cotton. No toxic dyes. No toxic pesticides. No sweatshops. No child labor.” That pretty much says it. Casual clothing, underwear, socks and leggings, tank tops, hoodies. Women, men, baby. GOTS certified.
Rambler’s Way Farm
“Soft, superfine wool comfortwear from the founders of Tom’s of Maine.” After nearly to years building Tom’s of Maine—one of the first makers of natural personal care products—Tom and Kate Chappell have a new venture. Their vision is “to re-imagine wool as a next-to-the-skin, superfine fabric, to warm and comfort people of all ages and walks-of-life…We create superfine worsted wool garments, while maintaining high standards of ecological responsibility, community involvement and customer satisfaction. They grow their own special breed of wool and color some of their garments with renewable, all natural dyes from herbal extracts.” For men and women.
Cottonique
“Allergy-free apparel” for men, women, and children. This company specifically provides clothing for people with skin contact allergies to latex and other common allergens. They focus primarily on undergarments and socks, but also have basic pants and tops for loungewear. “All our products are made from natural and chemical free 100% combed cotton material…soft and highly absorbent. Our elasticized garments are made from a newly developed material that is both latex-free and spandex free. Our unique Cottonique fabric is unlike any other. It is pH balanced to conform with the body’s natural acidic level and totally free of dyes, bleach and textile chemicals commonly used in other apparel.”
Kasper Organics
“Affordable and socially responsible organic cotton clothing and accessories for men and women.” All the items I checked were 100% organic cotton (except socks), with no synthetics. Many low-impact dyes and natural Colorganic cotton. Some latex-free. Some items are from brand name manufacturers, others handmade by the owner. Also bedding and bath towels. “If I was buying organically grown food for my family, why was I buying toxic clothing?”
Esperanza Threads
An interesting and unusual source of clothing for men, women, and children, made from organic cotton and other natural fibers. This is attractive, useful, clothing made from natural fibers in styles that are hard to find, including flowing, natural styles in sizes up to women’s 3x. And… “Esperanza Threads can provide clothing for you if you have moderate chemical sensitivities. We strongly suggest that you first test our fabrics. Look for our Chemical Sensitive Safe Logo next to fabrics which are safe for individuals with moderate chemical sensitivities.” These clothing items are handmade in the USA through a program that trains low-income individuals in industrial sewing, including immigrant refugees.

Indigenous
Simple, yet elegant and colorful, clothing for women and men, made by fair trade artisans in South America using organic cotton, free range alpaca, silk (harvested by a process that preserves the silkworms), and merino wool. Colors are the natural color of the fiber or the result of low-impact dyes. Garments are handmade through-and-through beginning with the fabric itself, which is hand-knit with needles or hand-woven on a loom. The styles are beautiful and timeless—what clothing should be.

Maggie’s Organics
Simple organic clothing for men and women, including pants, wraps, hoodies, dressses, tanks, camisoles, and scarves, and socks (socks for kids, too). “Maggie’s Organics was founded in 1992 on the premise that workers should be treated ethically and that clothing should be durable, affordable, and constructed of environmentally sustainable materials…All of our products are made with Certified Organic Cotton or Certified Organic Wool.”
SOS from Texas
“We Grow Organic Cotton T-Shirts” for men, women, children and babies. This is one of those businesses that I just love, because they do every step of making the garments themselves. “SOS t-shirts are made from organic cotton grown on our certified organic farms. We have been certified organic by the Texas Department of Agriculture since 1992…Our cotton is planted in mid-May and harvested after frost in November. The harvested cotton is ginned at our certified organic gin and then shipped to a certified mill in North Carolina for spinning into yarn. The yarn is also knitted, finished and sewn in the Carolinas. SOS products have a pedigree as we can tell you when and where they were planted and trace their development into a finished product. SOS organic cotton products are 100% Made in the USA, “sweat shop free”, by American workers being paid a fair and lawful wage…As we grow organic cotton t-shirts, we share our land with you, our customers. SOS organic cotton is “good for man and good for the land” as these practices improve our environment, create jobs for people in rural American and keep our family farm and heritage sustainable.” This is a very durable tee that will last many years and continue to soften with age and washings. The natural color varies from year to year with the type of growing season experienced by the cotton. And…these shirts are sewn with cotton thread.

An extensive selection of stylish basic clothing (and undergarments) for men, women and children, most made from European certified organically grown hemp, organic linen or organic cotton, some with natural dyes. Many items are exclusive to this site. “Our hemp products are, of course, sustainably made with no sweatshop, child, or underwaged labor involved at any step of the cultivation or manufacturing process — this is something which we have taken pride in from the very beginning.”
